Dear Letty,

And now first a letter to thank you for the congratulations with my birthday. It's a little bit on the late side, but I received so many letters that I didn't know how to get through with it. Now I am already here for three month and the time flies by. In the beginning it wasn't so pretty to move house in the winter, but now I don't regret at all, that I live here. You know, that I love it to live on the country and on this moment it's lovely outside. I enjoy every day the beautiful nature. The cherry and plum trees are in full blossom.
Lovely that your daughter is such a nice little girl. When I am in Leiden I will surely visit you. I also like to see Mrs.... again. Sure she isn't change at all. Is her daughter still become more good looking? Will you give Mr... my regards? Your mother I will write the next week.
