This website covers a period of one hundred years Dutch art of singing. With biographies, lists of recordings, CD's and photos of Dutch opera- and concert-singers. Music fragments and links to other sites that pay special attention to these subjects. Also in this continuous growing collection: biographies of the conductors of the Concertgebouw Orchestra - Willem Kes, Willem Mengelberg, Eduard van Beinum and Bernard Haitink - and a number of my favorite singers from abroad.

The main part on this site contains the period from before 1965, the year on which the 'Nederlandse Opera' ceased to exist as an ensemble opera. This site is established in 2001 with biographies of only 4 singers: the sopranos Jo Vincent, Elly Ameling and Gré Brouwenstijn and the contralto Aafje Heynis. Meanwhile the number of biographies is more than 200 and the number of visitors exceed the milestone of one million.

With the founding of the new label DD Records an unique and extended collection of CD's is released of Dutch singers of the past area. A collection that will be extended regular. Voices of singers, which before I started this site, where mainly unknown to me, but many of them belong now to my personal favorites.

• 3 CD's with mezzo soprano Julia Culp, 2 CD's with contralto Maartje Offers, 1 CD with soprano Jo Vincent, 1 CD with soprano Hélène Cals, 2 CD's with baritone Cornelis Bronsgeest, 1 CD with baritone Theo Baylé, 1 CD with baritone Thom Denijs and 1 CD with tenor Jacques Urlus.
• Meanwhile added 3 compilation CD's - at page DD Records cd's 2 - of various Dutch singers: Holland I, Holland II and Holland III and CD's with Jules Moes (ten.), Nan Merriman (mezzo sopr.), Theodora Versteegh (contralto), two CD's with psalms and religion songs by the Jo Vincent Quartet and one CD with compositions by the Dutch composer Catharina van Rennes.
  Recently added CD's by Aaltje Noordewier-Reddingius (soprano), Psalms & Gezangen, CD 3 by Willem Ravelli and a CD with tenor Hans Kaart.

Recently - August 2009 - I started with the third series CD's. The first CD's, you will find them on page DD Records cd's 3 are 4 recordings of soprano Jo Vincent. In the duets she is accompanied by respectively the contralto Theodora Versteegh and the tenor Louis van Tulder. Jo Vincent was already present with one CD: Jo Vincent CD1 - Passion, Oratorio & Arias - DDR 0710. January 2010 5 new CD's were released, three with contralto Anny Delorie, one with tenor Adriaan van Limpt and (!) one with tenor Richard Tauber with Lieder from Schubert's 'Winterreisse' and Schumann's 'Dichterliebe'.
