Nel Duval, the younger sister of the well-known soprano Greet Koeman made her debut in 1950 at the 'Nederlandse Opera' as mermaid in 'Oberon' (Weber). She sang during her career mainly soubrette roles as Michaëla (Carmen), Zerline (Don Giovanni), Ännchen (Freischütz) and Marzelline (Fidelio). In 1951 she sang together with her sister and the legendary contralto Kathleen Ferrier in 'Orpheus' in Amsterdam. In 1965 she left the stage, but stayed active as concert singer. |
